Lunch! We popped into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pikniktownmarket.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Piknik<\/strong><\/a>, a gourmet deli that also doubles as a boutique for cute home goods and local finds. Since we were heading to Armstrong Woods, it felt like fate that they had an <em>Armstrong Woods Sandwich<\/em> on the menu. It came stacked with chicken salad, currents, cashews, apple, garlic aioli, and greens on hearty whole-grain bread. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Perfect picnic fuel! The picnic tables near the entrance are tucked right into the redwoods, so we ate lunch literally surrounded by giants\u2014it doesn\u2019t get better than that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Afterward, we wandered along the <strong>Pioneer Nature Trail<\/strong> (an easy 1.6-mile loop). Highlights? Built in the late 1940s and 50s, the course has kept much of its retro charm, but the new owners (a sweet local family) are lovingly restoring it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes, it\u2019s a little crumbly in spots, but that\u2019s what makes it so fun. Think Mexican tiles, colorful decor, moody lighting, and one of the coolest bar bathrooms I\u2019ve ever seen (yes, you read that right).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I had the <em>Rosita<\/em> gin cocktail, which was perfectly balanced and full of flavor. Their menu leans into seafood, salads, and creative small plates, plus a nice selection of local wines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We ordered the <strong>Ahi Poke<\/strong> with sesame oil, cucumber, and chili crunch (so fresh and flavorful) and the <strong>Stuffed Focaccia Pastrami Sandwich<\/strong>, layered with provolone, roasted garlic, sauerkraut, and arugula.
